XZ166 DARK BLUE

 

First Flight: 5 March 1975. Thirteenth to fly.

Purpose: Pre-production. Replaced XX469. Weapons and systems trials.

Fate: History is sketchy but this airframe replaced XX469 late on in the programme after XX469 crashed in 1972. Transferred to RAE Farnborough in February 1981 and then at some point was passed to FAST (Farnborough Air Sciences Trust) Museum. It resides in storage at the museum.
